Congratulations to Sarah Armstrong, who purchased the above five ewes.
This is her very first flock of Babydoll sheep!

Step 1

Contact Michelle (see contact information at the bottom of this page) and request to be put on the waiting list.

Specify preference with regard to sex and color (ewe/ram/wether and black/white)

Step 2

As the lambs are born, I will contact the first person on the waiting list.  The buyer will need to send in a deposit totalling 50% of the purchase price by the end of two weeks.  If the deposit is not received by the end of two weeks, then that person's name will go to the bottom of the list and the next person will be contacted.

NOTE:  If for any reason Kellane Farm cannot provide a lamb, the deposit will be fully refunded.  However, in the event a lamb is available and the buyer decides not to go through with their purchase a $25 fee per sheep will be deducted from the returned deposit.

Step 3

Lambs will be weaned and ready to go to their new homes approximately eight weeks after they are born.  The reason I say approximately 8 weeks is because it will depend on the health of the lamb.  If at the end of eight weeks the lamb is ill or not thriving for any reason, then it will remain at the farm until it is healthy.  Lambs will need to stay at Kellane Farm for the entire eight weeks.  Please do not request that they be weaned sooner, as we believe it is in the best interest of the lamb to stay with its mother for this length of time.  This ensures that the lamb will be better able to handle the stresses of shipping and a new environment.

Step 4

Lamb pick-up day!  This date will be pre-arranged.
Please do not show up at an unspecified date requesting that the lamb come home with you.

Payment will need to be paid in full before the lamb leaves the farm.  If you'd like to pay using a personal check, then it will need to be sent two weeks before the pick-up date.

The following will be done before the date of pick-up:

Ears will be tagged with a Kellane Farm ID
Tails will be docked
Hooves will be trimmed
Vaccinations (CD/T & tetanus antitoxin)
Worming
NABSSAR Registration (if not complete before pick-up day, papers will be mailed to buyer)

Any additional testing specific to the state in which he/she resides is the buyer's responsibility and will be done at their expense.  We are happy to facilitate the veterinary services that are required, but the cost of the veterinarian's farm visit, testing, and health certificate will need to be paid for by the buyer before the sheep leaves the farm.

If desired, it can be arranged for Michelle to demonstrate hoof trimming on the date of pick-up.

New owners will be given registration papers, health records, and a packet of information on how to care for their new woolly friends.

We reserve the right to refuse the sale of a sheep for any reason.

Sheep are flock animals and need to have other sheep as companions.  We will not sell a single sheep to a home that doesn't already have at least one other sheep.  Goats, horses, pigs, etc. are not suitable companions.

Please Note:

We do not sell bottle babies.  Unless the ewe rejects the lamb, we think that it is best for the lamb to stay with the mother.  Lambs need to eat small amounts of milk on a frequent basis.  When they are bottle fed they are fed less frequently and they tend to guzzle the milk.  As a result, they can get scours (diarrhea).  Also, lambs need to be with the flock - learning how to be a sheep. Being a prey animal, they need a certain amount of "flight mentality" and they also need to learn flock dynamics.

We dock our tails long.  Some breeders dock their lambs' tails really short in order for them to be shown (due to judge preference).  Ewes with shorter docked tails have a higher risk of uterine prolapse after birth.  Therefore, we have decided to err on the side of caution and dock tails so that they cover the vaginal area.

Sorry, but we do not have any sheep for sale at this time.

We currently have five breeding age females,
so hopefully we will have a nice number of lambs in 2012.

Lambing dates will be early to mid-April.

The lambs should be ready to go to their new homes in June 2012.

Ram Lambs $500
Ewe Lambs $500
Wethers $100

Please contact us as soon as possible if you would like to be placed on the waiting list!!

Congratulations to Lorrie Gering, who purchased the above three sheep.
Have fun with your new woolly friends!!
